Video Games: They Can Save Your Life

Did you hear about this? That's right, thanks to his experience playing World of Warcraft, a 12-year-old boy was able to dodge one angry moose.

Has a video game ever saved your life or helped you in a practical way? Thanks to Mario Kart, I am now really good at throwing banana peels out of the back of my car. It really helps when dragons are chasing me.

For real though, what do you think? Are video games, for the most part, just for fun? Or do they do more than that? Are some games more educational than others?

Well, I don't know whether I would consider it "helping," but, well, have any of you played "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker"? You know those sea gulls that swim in circles over top of the place where giant squids pop out of the water?
Well, everytime I see a circle of sea gulls in real life, my hand jerks as I prepare to whip out my boomerang and fightr off the giant squid! x_x

that's so cool! I'm a WoW addict. I love gaming, but I don't play much, and I no longer own WoW. I'm a recovering Gamming Addict. I wish I could still play, and I think games are great fun. But those with poor impulse control (read: Teens) get addicted easily, so we shouldn't play much. Good for moose-boy, though! Moose are very dangerous, so he lucked out. But I don't know how the gaming helped. I suppose it's because of the hand-eye-coordonation games aid in. Coolness and kudos to him ,though!

I Played The Game That Was Featured World Of Warcraft I had A lvl 70 (being the top lvl in the game) and was involved in endgame content it was the most time consuming life destryoing game i have ever played the only problem is its probaly the best game ever made but i quit and now spend my time trying to keep people from playing it so in my opinion WoW at least Could never ever save a life or even increase ones IQ

I've heard about that story on GameGrep.com... very interesting, for sure. It doesn't necessarily help though. It may have saved a life in this rare instance, but think about the sort of people who become tainted by video games such as WoW, and occasionally take the lives of others. Not to say that I dislike video games, I'm addicted. xD but "save your life" isn't quite the right phrase.

Oh yeah, one time this dinosaur was driving a car towards me, so I threw a turtle shell at it and it died. :)

I like playing Yu-gi-oh games because I enjoy stretching my brain-muscles and coming up with new strategies to defeat different opponents.

i dont play Wow or system games for that matter much either but the game im addicted to (Runescape) has many real life uses as can be found in their knowledge base. one of them being typing skills.... i used to be one of those 1 finger chicken pecks... not any more. you also gain fantastic math skills as well. its not the best graphics but for a free java based game its not bad. it can also be played on almost any computer as long as it has an internet browser and internet. it also doesnt require much in the way of system requirements. so yes it quite a good game...
