Wii Entice You With Our Technology

Guess what? An Apple Computer could be coming to a library near you very soon! First we brought you the Wii, now we're bringing you iMacs. I know, I know, we're awesome.

But before we unleash an army of sweet Apple Computers on your unsuspecting soul, we want to find out what you think. Please take this survey!!! It will help us figure out where to install the Macs (sadly, not all library locations will get them this year...boo hoo!) and it will help us to figure out what kind of sweet software they should have.

Now's your chance to make your voice heard! Take the survey NOW! In order to do this well, we crave your input. Besides, everyone loves filling out surveys, right?

TIA!!!

I think it would be a really good improvement for the libraries.More teens would come into the library. And when they come in they will see all the books and movies and check them out.

Well i just filled out the paper servey and i dont think that Macs will be such a good idea.

1. Many teens that come to the libray are very use to XP's and would be disatisfied with the change.

2. Those people will have to learn the ways of a mac(the library may hold session on how to use a mac but who will attend, WERE TEENS!)

3. WTF, This conversation is about MACS AND EXISTING XP's!!! .XD. n00b!

In response to spartan-029:

1. Those teens can continue to use PCs, I don't think PCs are going away.

2. Many teens use Macs, and based on Apple's sales growth, many people want to try out Macs.

With the awesome media software, iLife, on a Mac it would be a big thing for the library to aid media creation and development.

GarageBand: Music creation
iPhoto: Photo management and editing
iMovie: Make movies in like 10 minutes!
iDVD: Make DVDs filled with high-quality themes
iChat with backdrops and special effects

iMacs have state-of-the-art specs and a wide display to aid the above applications.

Best idea I have heard in a long time. Kids will not have a hard time using the Mac at all. My six year old niece picked it up in one sitting.

You guys are going to have a lot of fun creating things. Keep up the good work!

Sincerely,

A VERY jealous librarian from up North.

@ maggie the librarian:

Any further news on Macs in the library? Is it a go or is it a no? If so, have you decided on the Mac model(s) to use?

@ anonymous:

Yeah, I can't wait either, especially with a page(s) on this website to publish iLife- and iWork-created media.

Video tutorials would ease the learning curve even further.

Grapher would help with math too.

Yes! We will be placing some pimped out iMacs at some of our library locations very soon. Stay tuned!

@ maggie the librarian:

Awesome!

Just to let you know, there are rumors that the iMacs will get a "speed bump" update in November. Now, while I don't advocate playing the "waiting game," I think it might be worthwile waiting until the updates arrive (if they do) just so you don't get a bunch of iMacs and find that the iMacs are updated the very next day.

I hope we see local storage space, iLife, and some of the other feedback I sent some time ago.

But just having Macs is good enough. :D

Ok, now wat were, the better things that macs have than PC's.

PC:

Trust worthy

reliable

cheap

durable(litarly, they can withstand an impresseve drop)

Anonymous said...

And thats just some of the things!

(Sorry bout' double posting)

Macs:

"It just works"

Good design (design is more than just looks)

Great software (iLife, iWork, etc.)

Not susceptible to viruses

Ease of use

Hardware and software are both made by Apple so there's significant integration

(And more)

Any more news? I can't wait much longer!

It looks like Apple just said there wouldn't be any product updates this year.

Oh well.
