Did you hear the news that Catherine Hardwicke will NOT be directing the Twilight sequel, New Moon? In her place will be Chris Weitz, who directed The Golden Compass and About a Boy.What's your response to this news? Do you think this move will make New Moon different, better, or worse than its predecessor? Do you like Chris Weitz's other movies? He produced Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, which gives him five bazillion gold stars in my book of people who rule.
Anyhow, I find it interesting that the director of a movie that has already grossed over $70 million got canned (I'm not saying Hardwicke created pure Oscar gold in her direction of Twilight, I'm just saying that movie made A LOT of money.). But did she really get canned? Or is this just normal Hollywood stuff? Think about it....
While all the Harry Potter movies made a crap ton of money, they hired a different director for so many of them. And you can see each director's "flavor" in the movies. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
Can a director make or break a movie?

i think thats kinda good, i didnt like how much stuff they left out in twilight, but im worried that new moon will be bad.
I don't know, I didn't see Nick&Norah's but I did read it and it was pretty good. And I am usually not one for that much cussing but it fit in N&N's. I liked Hardewick's direction and they did leave some stuff out. Then again they did make about 500 pg book into a 2 hour movie. I don't know what New Moon will be like since it has a bit of a different story line than Twilight. I just hope it's good!!!!!!
i don't think it's a good idea. i loved the first movie, and i want the second one to be amazing tooooo. and i don't know if the guy that directed the GOLDEN COMPASS is gonna do that for all the fans! UCH!
That's stupid. Harry Potters 1st 2 movies where great! Just like the books, all directed by the same guy. The rest, nothing like the book, like a whole new story!
We'll have to wait and see.
I do believe that the directing strongly effects a film, but the directing wasn't the problem with Twilight, Robert Pattinson's acting was.
And I absolutly love the book Nick and Norah's infinite playlist but did u see that movie? I felt like it was centered around that disgusting piece of gum! That could just as easily be blamed on the screen writter but hey directors have a big say and he kept it in there.
New Moon is my favorite book in the series and they better not mess it up
i really dont care...at the moment. but no offence 2 hardwicke or anything, but her directing sucked. and i dont really fancy the new director that much either since he's planning on replacing the person who plays jacob black because he's not 'tan' enuff. wtf is up with that???

I dont care but i love the books and as long as they stick along the lines with it it really doesnt matter and i do like the golden compass so maybe he will do good
The book New Moon I think was the best so far! I'm worried that it will be bad. I think that New Moon was better than Twilight. They left a lot of things out of Twilight I just hope he can make the movie the best it can ever be! And I hope he doesn't stress to much about letting us down! I just want i to be the best!!! Good Luck I just hope they stick to the lines!
